Questions parents ask

How do we choose between baby names?

Narrow it to three to six names you both like, then compare them on the things that last: how easy the name is to say and spell where your child will live, the initials and the flow with your surname, the meaning, and how common it is. Say each full name out loud, then sleep on it. Names that both of you still like after a week are usually the right ones.

How do the hearts work with my partner?

Each of you gives every name zero to three hearts. Copy the link and send it: it carries the names and your hearts, nothing else. Your partner adds theirs and sends the link back. Names with hearts from both of you rise to the top.

Is my shortlist saved?

Yes, in your browser on this device, together with the hearts from the name finder and name pages. Nothing is sent to us. Clearing your browser data deletes it, so copy the link to keep a backup.

What does the score mean?

It is our name scorecard out of 100: international readability, ease of saying and spelling, how common it is, teasing risk, legal risk, meaning and, if you add them, the flow with your surname and the rules of your country. It is a checklist, not a verdict: a name you love can still win with a 70.

Fun, but true. Name meanings come from common etymologies, which sometimes disagree. Height and weight paths are estimates from population growth data and published studies, not a medical assessment.
